James “Jim” Nelson

Managing Principal

James Nelson formed Nelson Development in 1977 and directs the full scope of development, acquisition services, finance, sales, leasing and management of the company. He built the company from the ground floor up and attributes its success to hard work, a quality product and customer satisfaction. Nelson Development, LLC is involved in developing and operating commercial properties in 18 states.

Its development projects range in size and types from the smallest tenant to the largest national companies including: AT&T, US Postal and Yellow Freight Lines. Originally from Salina, KS, Nelson attended Kansas University and received a degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS.

Linda Nelson

Managing Principal

Linda Nelson has been involved with Nelson Development, LLC since 1991. She has served in various capacities including, land acquisitions, project design and administration. Nelson also serves on two fund raising committees for the Ronald McDonald House and the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation. Linda was born in Southern CA and prior to her involvement in Nelson Development, LLC was the Founder and Executive of New Medical Weight Loss.

Robert “Bob” F. Simoneau

General Superintendent

Bob Simoneau has been with Nelson Development since it's inception and has helped transform the business into a high quality contracting Company. A 42-year veteran of the construction industry, Simoneau is recognized as a proven leader and a pioneer of his respected field. Reflecting the achievements of Nelson Development, LLC, he has been instrumental in creating Nelson Development, LLC’s culture of operational excellence. Bob has an extensive history and proven track record in the construction industry including: Housing, condominiums, self-storage, shopping centers and many more.

James “Jim” E. Calkins

Consultant

Jim Calkins is a major asset to the Nelson Development, LLC design team. Some of the projects he has worked on, as a consultant, include: Windmill Square, Madison Commercenter, Ranch Crossing and Esplanade Commercenter. Upon graduating from the University of Southern California, Jim received his California Architectural License in 1955. Calkins has an impressive employment history including the Housing Authority of Los Angeles, Herman O. Ruhman, A.I.A., Riverside, CA, Neste, Brudin & Stone, Hemet, CA, and has had his own firm since 1968.

The awards that Jim has received touts his many accomplishments: Gerrards Market, Redlands Beachwood Corp., Mill Creek Water Treatment Plant and Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. He is also past-president of the Inland California Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Hemet Rotary Club and the Hemet Chamber of Commerce. He was also a City of Hemet Planning Commissioner for thirteen years.

Rhonda Grove

Property Manager

Rhonda Grove provides full service management for Nelson Development, LLC’s commercial property including day-to-day operations, management of office, financial reporting, monthly accounting, marketing and training. Rhonda’s career started in the financial field with Bank of America. Rhonda owned and operate a large plumbing company for 22 years. She then relocated to Alaska and became a General Manager for a retail store and restaurant before joining Nelson in 2005. She was born and raised in Whittier, CA.

Sophia Lidback

Southeastern Region Project Development Manager

Sophia Lidback is one of the newest additions to Nelson Development, LLC. A recent transfer to Atlanta, Georgia, Sophia is in charge of product development for the Southeastern Area of the country. Lidback is a highly motivated and well organized individual. Fluent in French and a working knowledge of Spanish, thanks to her nearly 10 years of living abroad, she is truly an asset to the company. Sophia is a graduate of the University of Kansas.

Cheri Mahan

Marketing & Property Manager, Arizona Division

Cheri Mahan joined Nelson Development, LLC in the past year to head the marketing and property management departments for our Arizona properties. A recognized professional in the real estate industry, Ms Mahan brings the people skills needed to organize a successful team. Having recently left one of the major national real estate firms, Cheri Mahan was recognized as one of the top Realtors in the South West. Prior to her real estate career, Cheri was involved in founding and operating several very successful small businesses.
